Fort Groupie

So Swistle had a fabulous idea to have a Group Effort Pay it Forward Contest. So that's what we're doing! The general plan is:
1. A bunch of us will all independently hold Pay it Forward contests starting today or tomorrow (tues.).
2. The contests will end July 4th, and winners will be chosen.
3. Those winners will then each hold their own Pay it Forward contests (hence the forward part), and so and so on this is the song that never ends la la la.

SO!

The Fort Groupie Cookiemonks Contest!

The Prize: A gift package of lovingly selected books, book things, and candy. This will be determined after a winner is chosen and can be as general or specific as the winner would like. I LOVE choosing books for people! I can just wing it, or you can tell me exactly what you've been dieing to read. Also, a genre suggestion would work and I can go from there. If you have kids I'd like to include them too. As far as the candy goes the same guidelines will work. Book things will be name plates, book marks, etc, etc as I find something cute. I will most likely do my book shopping at Barnes and Noble and Half Price Books. The candy will come from the grocery store I'm sure. If you have any other questions about this let me know.

The End: My contest will end at bedtime on July 4th. To be safe, I'd say 10:00 central time, k?
The Question for Comments: Are you a cake lover, or do you prefer pie?

I think that's all folks. I hope this will be as fun for you guys as it is for me! Yippy Skippy!
Edited to Add: I just got back from short Walmart trip (the WRONG Walmart! Not the one I intended to go too, I iz Stoopid). I picked up a few goodies for my contest. Some funny Texas mementos that can double as bookmarks, some really pretty tab markers, a photo frame pen, and a copy of a gorgeous magazine I love. Just wanted to let y'all know! Lot's more stuff to come!
More Adding Please: No math though, promise. We went to Half Price Books tonight and I found a bunch of funny/cute bookmarks, a neat kiddy craft book, and a possible adult book if it fits the winner (if not I'll read it, yay!). Also, I had a sick friend who hasn't called me back yet. If she doesn't I have a bunch of other kids stuff I can include in my prize. I'm waiting on any other adult books until I know who wins!

DEFINITELY prefer pie.

Unless it is CHEESEcake. Yum!

Fine For Now said...

Pie, I have never liked cake, ever! Even cheese cake. :)

hangel said...

I have to go with Moo's answer. PIE always...unless there is cheesecake available.

Mmmm...can I have that for breakfast?

Mary O said...

Pie, please. I could use a piece right now!

cake cake cake! :-)

Mud Pie.

This gets specific. Cake must have light and fluffy frosting in order to be good. Pie must not insult me by containing fruit. Both are mashed into a paste so that the textures and flavors are evenly distributed. People always mock me when I mash up my cakes and pies.

I'm going to go with lemon cheesecake.

This is so funny because I made a pie this weekend and my sister and I were saying that people who don't like pie are just wierd. But, if I had to choose I'd say I like cake more! :)

Anonymous said...

I do not descriminate against either. I <3 sweets :)

Not the right question for the pregnant girl...bring it all on.

It's really a tie---white cake with perfect buttercream icing or a good chocolate pie.

MzEll said...

mmmm So many yummy answers. I love Both, and I would definately like some for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I'm so glad ya'll commented! Yay!

That's a tough one. I'm going to have to say pie. I love cake but it's always a gamble because frosting can go very very wrong. Pie is consistently good, unless it involves nuts.

Whimsy said...

I'm picky about pie. There are so many things that can go wrong with pie - fruit too hard, not sweet enough, crust too gummy or tasteless. But if it's done just right then I pick PIE every time.

Kali said...

We always celebrate birthdays with pie at my sisters house!

Daycare Girl said...

Cake. Give me cake every time.

Pam said...

Cake. Or more specifically, icing. Cake is merely a vehicle for the icing.

Toughest question I've encountered all day. But here's a harder one: Is Boston Creme Pie a pie or a cake? Think about that.

Anyway to answer your question: pie. I think.

Mmmm...great, lovely, moist chocolate cake~! But not with ice cream because the cake gets soggy.

CP said...

Pie for sure. But, and don't all hate me, I prefer the crust. I know, I know. Gross. But I do.

Points for honesty?

Sara said...

Totally a cake person

MzEll said...

cp- I like the crust too! especially if it's from a pecan pie mmmm...

Also, I have a serious desire to make pies since seeing Waitress, anybody else?

Kelsey said...

I'm not actually much of a cake or pie fan, but I do make a delicious apple pie... or so I've been told, I don't actually eat it.

Emily said...

Cake. Without a doubt. I mean, pie is good too, but I love cake.

nicole said...

That is a hard question. I'll say pie, but tomorrow I may say cake.

Brooke said...

I love candy so I am def all in!

Michelle said...

Hmm. I think cake. But not chocolate cake.

Barb said...

Ooh, difficult for me. I have a total sweet tooth! But if I had to pick, I'd probably choose pie.

Anonymous said...

Cake. I can take or leave the pie, but cake, I just HAVE to at least try it. Cookies are worse, though. I've never met a cookie I didn't want to stuff in my face.

shoeaddict said...

I mostly prefer cake and there are more pies I dislike. BUT, unless the type is specified, it's soooo hard to tell. I don't like lemon cakes or pies or blueberry or cherry pies. I really like cheesecake a lot, lot, lot. Turtle cheesecake, mmmmmm.

Anonymous said...

Pie please. Pecan.

(And we're a cat family, too!)

Anonymous said...

Pie. Definitely pie.

Am now drooling and thinking about pie. Thanks.

andrea said...

Cake. Specifically, chocolate, honey and yoghurt cake. But a good banana caramel cream pie can entice me over to the other side.

MzEll said...

beth: Yay! pecan in my favorite

erica: You're welcome! hehe!

This is the most fun I've had in Ages...

Misty said...

Most certainly, I am a cake girl.

Moist delicious with not-too-much-frosting.

Oh, I am making me hungry.

Not Your Aunt B said...

CAKE. Any kind, any time, with or without ice cream, with or without birthday candles, cup variety...I will eat CAKE!

Anonymous said...

I like Cake, but just the frosting...mmmm...that buttercream.

Maggie said...

Can I pick both? I pick both. I love sweets. But if it's cake, it has to be a middle piece...no edges for me...

clueless but hopeful mama said...

Cake. Without question. Pie is good fruit ruined, to borrow and phrase and butcher it.

NotAMeanGirl said...

Hmmm it depends on the pie or the cake...

I guess I'd have to go with Cake.

Missy said...

If it's apple, then pie. Otherwise, cake and keep it coming.

Anonymous said...

Pie from Betty's Pies (anyone going up the North Shore of Lake Superior in MN needs to check it out). But I like a good slice of cake too...mmm...carrot cake....

Anonymous said...

This is a tough one!! I'd have to go for cake only because I looooove me some frosting :)

Anonymous said...

Cake. Pie, what with its fruit and all, doesn't interest me.

Also, this comment section has got me thinking of Eddie Izzard's "cake or death?" joke. Funny!

SP said...

I definitely don't do pie. I cannot eat cooked fruit. I'm weird, I know. It's just a thing for me. It gets all mushy and...

Oh, sorry, I got side-tracked.

Cake is ok I guess, but can I have brownies instead?

Heather said...

Usually cake, but French Silk Pie is pretty tasty too.

Now I want some. Darn it...

MzEll said...

caley- I don't know that joke, can you share with the class, pretty please?

sp- Yes, I think we all need some brownies right about now!

Tess said...

Cake, unless its PIZZA PIE.

Unknown said...

I'm voting cake. In general. Sometimes a delicious slice a' pie a la mode is just right.

Jenny Grace said...

Generally, like in a restaurant, I prefer cake, because it's harder to make bad cake, but if it could always be my mom's pie, then pie. Fruit pie.

Anonymous said...

Pie!

SLynnRo said...

Cake. HATE PIE. ALL KINDS. No really.

Britni said...

I'm definitely a cake person unless it's cheesecake or chocolate pie. But normally cake.

Anonymous said...

I like my cake with a side of Key Lime Pie. ;) Or my pie with a side of cake, you know, to mix it up. ;)

Jennifer said...

Definitely blackberry pie!

aibee said...

I....don't know.

Pie?

I LOVE cake. I like pie fillings but not the crust unless it's key lime pie with a graham cracker crust.

I am shocked at the number of pie lovers. I myself am an avid chocolate cake eater. Love the stuff!

Anonymous said...

Cake for sure

edbteach said...

It's a toss up for me. I love Key Lime Cake and Pineapple Upside down cake, but I also love cherry pie and boston creme pie. Hmmm . . . I think I need to go bake something.

Liz said...

Right now I have to say pie. I am 24 weeks pregnant and craving pumpkin pie like crazy. I have been good thus far. :)

Chraycee said...

so hard to choose, but since you insist I'm going with cake. I just can't escape my love of frosting.

Anonymous said...

Cake. But I love the word "pie."

Angel said...

Cake!

Let's see, I like pie better than cake and like crafty books and sometimes biographies although I don't seem to have the persistence to get through any books lately. thanks for entering over at my pay it forward contest--good luck!

I think pie, unless it's a darn good cake.

I am all about the white sheet cake with butter cream frosting. My palette just isn't all that refined.

Cake, cake!

I'd have to say cake. I have set the lofty goal of making every cake in the Cake Mix Doctor's book.

Laura said...

who could ever choose?

k's mama said...

I would pick apple pie over cake, but cake over any other type of pie.
