Grocery Store Glum

So yesterday, my family and I expedited our "Wearesickbutweneedgroceries" routine of everyone riding to the store in the van while I run in and grab what we need. As I was stalking the tomatoes with 4 other people I made accidental, casual eye contact with a woman in a bright coral jacket.

Now, in most situations like this, my response is to either smile or look away. This being a woman, and probably a mom, I smiled shyly. She then looked at me in total snobbitude and raised one eyebrow; "Do you dare to look at me young chubby lady? How Dare You!"(She didn't say that, that's just what she implied). It was the strangest non-verbal response I've elicited from anyone in forever.

Then, to make it even better, she got in line to checkout behind me. She knew it was me in the line! It was her turn to smile shyly now. I put my raw ground meat right up against the divider between our groceries and made a big show of lifting 20lbs of catfood like it was nothing. Take that ugly jacket woman. I never looked at her again.

Blog Links

I thought I was done, but I just thought of 3 more.  I will get the links finished today and try to start on a mommy book list.  When that's done maybe I can figure out how to get people to actually READ my blog so I'm not just talking to myself!

Snot on the Ceiling...but not really

So this is my BLAWG.... My beautiful, wonderful BLAWG. I love my blog so much already, I want to stare into it's rainbow colored eyes and tell it all the things I've already written to it over the past however many months (ask the Mr. he'll tell you)(do you like my picture? It's from the ceiling at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, woohoo!). But, alas, I have not yet figured this lovely creature into my daily routine. I guess it will just have to be a day long process of writing a little at a time, or with one hand while holding the baby at night. Hopefully it will work itself out soon.

So, to please my poor, small, mommified brain, here is a bulleted list of short post ideas form the past few days. They will probably never be finished, but at least they'll be out of my head.

*Valentine's Extended: My baby, Wednesday, is the sweetest baby I've ever known. And to top it all off, the back of his head smells exactly like the slowly wilting rose from the flowers The Mr. gave me for Valentine's day. I discovered this not by comparison on purpose, but by smelling the flower and realizing it was Wednesday's Smell.

*Stew: Winston is almost 3, he has a cold, and lots of snot. This snot, his body makes it! It comes from his own self! But when it falls from his noes he screams, "SNOT!!!!!" As if there is a giant squid escaping from his nostrils; and scares the lollipops out of me. The only solution to stop the screaming while I find a kleenex is to yell back to him "STEW!!!". Then we yell back and forth "SNOT" "STEW", until he starts laughing. He inevitably smears snot all over his face while we play this game, but at least he's not screaming, right?

*Clowns: This last one is for The Mr. Who is so very sick with something worse than a cold. He's going to the dr. today, and went to work, but he feels awful. I sing this song with my boys almost daily; we are frequent Youtube users around here. Winston calls it the clown song, and today it is for his Papa.

Here We Go..

So, Hi out there in mommy blog land.  I figured since I already categorize my families memories as blog posts in my head, I might as well actually write some things down.

I still have some major work to do, I know, and that will start tomorrow.  For now, let me tell you that I'm  a SAHM to Winston, who'll be 3 in May, and Wednesday who is almost 15 months.  I'm married to the love of my life, and we live in Texas.  We are a family of cat-loving Democrats who love to read and rock.

I have so many things to write and think about here.  Let's just hope that I can keep up!
